(Diverted from a now off subject; An idea to keep Experimentation “interesting” and more balanced: about implementing a new battle system/calculator.
Baring in mind I’ve never even attempted working stuff like this out before (and it shows) this was my original attempt on the idea of a Defense Technology.
Defence; (as if 1000 defending ships against incoming ships with level 1 weapons)
Rule = 2(D) + [(D-W)/100) * ships on star]
NOTE = [(D-W/100) * Ships on star] Will never be <0
L1 = 2(1) + [(1/100) * 1000] = 12 ships destroyed
L2 = 2(2) + [(2/100) * 1000] = 24 ships destroyed
L3 = 2(3) + [(3/100) * 1000] = 36 ships destroyed
L4 = 2(4) + [(4/100) * 1000] = 48 ships destroyed
L5 = 2(5) + [(5/100) * 1000] = 60 ships destroyed
...
L10 = 2(10) + [(10/100) * 1000] = 120 ships destroyed
...
L25 = 2(25) + [(25/100) * 1000] = 300 ships destroyed

The major problem with this is that it does nothing for lower ship combat, unless you could find a away to adjust it yourselves. Like I said, this was an attempt, just didn’t know if this might spark anyone else’s suggestions! I like the idea of being able to bolster a defense, the same way you can cause destruction.
