Holy Moley Sekoms has a lot of badges - that’s a battle scarred veteran player!

I would love to jump in and play @MattS how would I go about doing that?

Best wait to hear from LDG. She is the boss around here.

My game has started and it’s intense. There have been a number of WS1 battles as we try and get the upper hand in the middle.

Thats cool, let me know and I can jump in asap.

I don’t have a problem with Unicycle joining Matt’s game, the link is in the 3rd post.

Soon  Give us an update on how your game went

So in my game against Sekoms, I just got a Weapons hit from Experimentation - this is HUGE when you are starting out with W1 … and especially in a small galaxy, really tilts the game to whoever is lucky enough to get that “E” hit early - i.e. the dice gods were terribly unfair to Sekoms.

I’d like to suggest for round two of the duel tournament to consider making the galaxy a bit bigger and starting out with either W2 or W3 … this should allow more gameplay and reduce the randomness (experimentation is still good) that can make a HUGE difference.

I’ve played some mano-mano games where we started with W3 and this seemed to work well … it also allows you to be more aggressive early on since you aren’t losing ships at a 2:1 ratio.

Well done Dysp, too good for me!

@leonardebaker Thank you and very good game! I was lucky to hit some weapon exp near the end.

I would second Hulk’s suggestions about starting with lvl3 weapons and maybe also a bit bigger universe. I have to say exp is playing quite an big role in this type of games. But definately fun stuff, it very seldom gets as exiting as one vs one’s tend to do.

Just to expand a bit more, here’s some suggested changes from the current parameters:

  • Change started Weapons tech from 1 to 3 and make Weapons very expensive to research
  • Double the number of stars (my game has 44 in it) … how 'bout an even 100 total?
  • Change Plentiful resources to Standard (since more stars)
  • Increase starting cash to at least $1,500
  • Keep distances close … you (or your opponent) is always close enough to attack!
  • Keep Experimentation … it’s a fun element of the game and detuned with above changes

I think that will make for a good back-n-forth battle that will be a better test of skillful play.

P.S. The mirrored galaxies just totally ROCK!

Reporting Results: Hulk defeated Sekoms at tick 96 - screenshot here.
Sekoms fought well (renown sent) - as mentioned, he got hosed by the dice gods …
Hoping the game parameters will be tweaked to be more fair for subsequent rounds.

That was a fast game! I’m at tick 186 in my game. Alas my opponent missed the last turn deadline. I hope all is well with you, Samireland!

Game completed. @Unicycle247 defeated me in just over 9 cycles.

Not too happy about the way I played, and my opponent took advantage of my errors with very solid gameplay. Thanks for the game, good luck.

Indeed very hard fought game from cycle 1.

Thanks Dysp, @Golden_Ace won his match in 4 cycles I believe.

Thanks and no problem! Updated the list.

Looks like I pulled out the win against samireland, a bit of a gamble allowed me to destroy his economy on four if his stars including his home star with a solid foothold in his territory. At this point the numbers were so far in my favor he has conceded defeat. Good game! Very interesting map with a 15h+ gap between our territories, any attack would allow some time for defensive movements. I’ll post a screen shot tonight

I won against Ahamkara.

It was a great game, but I agree the player starts were perhaps a little close and that early experiments may have made too much of an impact.
