Scanning tech change suggestion

The Scanning tech generally works great. I think in a Dark Galaxy game (such as the 64 player game that just started) it would be nice if scanning was modified a bit.

Basically, I’m thinking that Scanning would work as-is within current range (you see infrastruture and ship count etc on stars within range). However, in a dark galaxy, scanning could also allow you to see stars up to twice the normal distance away, without giving you any info other than who controls the stars within range. Stars beyond the double-scanning range would remain invisible.

Thoughts?

The idea of a dark game is that you don’t know where the stars are beyond scanning range and have to adjust your strategy with every new star you capture.

I would approve if this as an alternative, but don’t want the current dark galaxy to be removed.

Yeah, I think this would be a fun option to play one day!
