The Scanning tech generally works great. I think in a Dark Galaxy game (such as the 64 player game that just started) it would be nice if scanning was modified a bit.
Basically, I’m thinking that Scanning would work as-is within current range (you see infrastruture and ship count etc on stars within range). However, in a dark galaxy, scanning could also allow you to see stars up to twice the normal distance away, without giving you any info other than who controls the stars within range. Stars beyond the double-scanning range would remain invisible.
