What happens when you Restore an AI when the game started with AI?

Hello super noob to the game.

I made a game of 8 players with 2 AI.

I wrongly assumed that the the reinstate player would allow for new players to join the game so I did that option to both AI.

What is happening to the AI since there was no original player?

I am only aware of two varieties of AI. Players who QUIT become AI, and players who AFK become AI. Force starting a game with unfilled empires, I believe, creates the QUIT variety of AI.

Both types of AI behave the same except that an AFK AI in a private game can be recovered for that player who went AFK when the Administrator (Premium Creator) of the game goes into the Options menu and click “Restore Player”.

What happens if I "Force Start" a game

When you “Force Start” a game, the unfilled empires are controlled by AI. Once a game begins, no new players may join into a game. The “Restore Player” button only brings back players who went AFK.
