I like it! I’m a huge sucker for flavor.
A couple nitpicks:
- “standing aside it” should probably be “standing beside it”; I’ve never used “stand aside” used transitively. Though maybe that’s something Australians say?
- “the feint smile” should definitely be “the faint smile”.
I’ve already cut the bit about the feint smile
That should be “astride”, but not sure if that’s quite right either.
“Astride” would be a pretty weird visual, haha. I’m pretty sure that word always means more or less “with a leg on either side of”.
Yes, I think you’re right. I was more trying to get at one standing at either end haha.
